M.T Sudani Nair and Vinod Kumar Shukla awarded ‘Akashdeep’

M.T. Vasudevan Nair, the renowned writer-film director of Malayalam in non-Hindi languages, and distinguished writer Vinod Kumar Shukla in Hindi received Amar Ujala’s highest honor, “Akashdeep,” for overall contribution to literature and life.

Born on August 9, 1933 in Kerala, MT Vasudevan Nair has been selected for his outstanding contribution to modern art and literature in Malayalam and Vinod Kumar Shukla, born on January 1, 1937 in Rajnandgaon, will be honoured for his unique contribution to Hindi writing field. As noted by M.T. Vasudevan Nair, he stated, “I gather experiences like the way children gather beautiful stones to fill their pockets, and these moments later find their way into my writing.” Adding to that, Vinod Kumar Shukla, asserted, “I find clarity in the chaos of words. Writing is an endless endeavor, and I consider it a responsibility.”

The program has included Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Oriya, and Hindi languages, with Malayalam being selected this year. The Akashdeep award, the highest honor for literary sages in Hindi and other Indian languages, is presented to the best works of the year, The award includes an amount of Rs 5 lakh each, a citation and the Ganga statue as a symbol.
