Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, stated on Saturday that while conflicts over the late Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar cannot be made a national issue at the moment because there are so many urgent issues to pay attention to.
He asserted that this is not the first instance of an Indian speaking about national matters while abroad, defending Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is the target of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Pawar visited the residence of Union minister Nitin Gadkari while addressing at the Press Club in Nagpur.
