Manipur security forces intercepted a major drug trafficking attempt along National Highway-2 on Monday, arresting a man in possession of over three kilograms of psychotropic substances. The operation underscores ongoing efforts to curb narcotics distribution in the state.
Md. Sajid Khan, 35, from Thoubal Moijing in Thoubal district, was apprehended at T. Khullen under Senapati Police Station jurisdiction during routine surveillance in vulnerable areas. Authorities recovered approximately 3.2 kilograms of WY tablets, a controlled psychotropic substance, from his possession.
The seizure also included a Mahindra Bolero vehicle, mobile phone, and Aadhaar card, suggesting the vehicle may have been used to transport drugs across district boundaries. WY tablets are classified under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, carrying severe penalties for possession, trafficking, and distribution. Officials indicated that the intercepted quantity could have supplied multiple distribution points across the state.
