A strong storm batters Rajabari Pukhuriporia in Teok, knocking out the power

A strong storm tore over Teok’s Rajabari Namchuk Pukhuriporia neighbourhood, causing damage and interfering with everyday life and vital services. A huge tree was uprooted and fell onto the grounds of Pukhuriporia Primary School, the sole school in the region, taking the brunt of the storm. Authorities had to halt school for the day after the hit tore off its tin roof and caused significant damage. The storm caused additional destruction in neighbouring residential neighbourhoods. A big tree fell on top of a concrete house, shattering its strong walls and hurting multiple family members.

Strong winds tore off the tin roofs of other houses, leaving them exposed and destroying valuables such as books, furniture, and critical documents. Many trees were also felled by the storm’s wrath, obstructing the crucial connecting road between Rajabari and Mudaijan and preventing access. Due to the ongoing disruption in the power supply, the entire region is now completely dark. Since early in the morning, locals and youth organisations have stepped up to help impacted families by providing relief and removing debris. In order to help the families affected by the hurricane and return things to normal in the area, community leaders have also urged government officials to step in and provide prompt assistance.
