With hospitals, diagnostic chains, and health-tech startups rapidly expanding across the city, the launch of the AI in Healthcare program by Great Learning in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University has gained notable interest from Kolkata’s professional community. The 10-week program is positioned to meet the rising demand for AI-skilled talent in healthcare operations, research, and clinical decision support. Designed by JHU faculty, the curriculum blends foundational AI concepts with healthcare-focused applications such as disease prediction, operational efficiency, drug-discovery models, and responsible AI frameworks. The course also introduces participants to predictive analytics, large language models, graph analytics, and epidemiological modelling used for pandemic preparedness.

Kolkata’s healthcare sector; home to major private hospital chains, biotech units, and academic institutions is witnessing increased adoption of AI-assisted diagnostics, automated reporting, and digital patient-management systems. Business leaders say structured programs like this can help bridge the skill gap among mid-career professionals.

The program includes recorded lectures, weekly mentored sessions, and live masterclasses from JHU faculty, along with eight real-world case studies. Graduates earn a Certificate of Completion and six CEUs from Johns Hopkins University. Great Learning CEO Mohan Lakhamraju said the collaboration brings academic rigor and practical relevance together, helping professionals apply AI to real clinical and operational challenges. Local edtech analysts in Kolkata expect strong enrolment, driven by the city’s expanding healthcare ecosystem and its push toward tech-enabled services.
