In northeast India’s logistics sector, Guwahati-based entrepreneur Amarnath Banik emerges as a key player, strategically steering his family’s trucking business to new heights through a transformative partnership with Amazon. Banik, at the helm of Amarnath Paribahan, has strategically expanded his fleet to 200 trucks, boasting a workforce of 250 drivers, to efficiently meet the escalating demands of e-commerce in the region’s challenging terrains.
Entering the logistics sector in 2006, Banik capitalized on the growing online retail sector, culminating in a pivotal alliance with Amazon’s trucking partner program in 2019. This partnership not only revitalized his family business but also positioned it as a logistical powerhouse, serving 13 cities, including prominent hubs like Guwahati, Tinsukia, Shillong, and Kohima.Amarnath’s business acumen shines through in his adept utilization of technology. Leveraging Amazon’s Relay app for real-time tracking, Banik ensures operational efficiency, addressing challenges such as landslides and monsoons with strategic planning and robust contingency measures.
Amazon India’s Vice President of Operations, Abhinav Singh, lauds Banik’s business transformation, stating, “Amarnath’s remarkable journey is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit that fuels our nation’s progress.” Banik, in reflecting on the partnership, emphasizes the financial benefits and technological advancements provided by Amazon, positioning his logistics company at the forefront of the evolving northeastern market.
