Amazon sets a milestone; Delivers Customer Orders at 4,500 feet above sea level in Indian Himalayas

Maharishi Ashram in Galoji Village, situated at a staggering altitude of 4,500 feet above sea level, stands as a sanctuary for nearly 60 meditation practitioners seeking inner peace. However, the tranquil isolation that fosters spiritual growth poses a logistical challenge for accessing daily essentials. Yet, thanks to Amazon’s innovative delivery network, the ashram’s residents now have a lifeline to the outside world.

In a groundbreaking endeavor, Amazon India became the sole e-commerce provider to reach the remote enclave of Maharishi Ashram, setting a precedent in customer service excellence. Since 2020, Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner station, established in March 2019 to serve Uttarkashi and its environs, has been defying geographical odds to ensure timely deliveries to the ashram’s doorstep. Traversing treacherous terrain, Amazon’s delivery associates undertake a grueling journey, navigating a 25-kilometer bike ride followed by a challenging 3-kilometer trek through unforgiving landscapes marked by steep ridges and unpredictable weather conditions. Despite the formidable obstacles posed by the region’s rugged topography, Amazon remains steadfast in its commitment to customer satisfaction.

Dr. Karuna Shankar Pande, Director of Amazon Logistics, lauded the resilience of Amazon’s delivery team, emphasizing the company’s unwavering dedication to reaching customers wherever they may reside. The partnership between Amazon and local Delivery Service Partner Rahul Kesar not only exemplifies Amazon’s support for small and mid-sized businesses but also underscores its mission to extend its reach to every corner of India.
