Assam Cabinet approves important initiatives for education regulation and economic growth

Following a productive meeting, the Assam Cabinet announced a number of significant measures aimed at enhancing the state’s educational system and economic situation. These significant choices included the establishment of Driver Training Centers, Mega Industrial Parks, and regulations for coaching institutes. The Cabinet adopted the “Assam Coaching Institutes (Control & Regulation) Act, 2025,” which will protect students’ rights and provide them with suitable academic assistance, in response to the coaching institute industry’s explosive growth. This is a first step in making sure that education is conducted fairly.

The Cabinet has authorized the establishment of Mega Industrial Parks in the districts of Kamrup and Morigaon, as well as a Smart township in Hajo, Kamrup, in an effort to bolster the industrial sector. The action is probably going to strengthen the region’s industrial ecology and investor confidence. In order to improve the efficiency of the driving license issuance procedure, the Cabinet has also approved the creation of Accredited Driver Training Centers (ADTC) with Automated Driver Testing Tracks (ADTT). Five of these centers are now under construction and should be operational in five months.

With a focus on preserving Assam’s cultural legacy, the Cabinet also deliberated on Majuli and Sivasagar’s designation as UNESCO World Heritage sites. Additionally, steps were taken to guarantee that the NEET exams were administered correctly, including requesting that the National Testing Agency administer the tests in government schools under appropriate supervision. Last but not least, the Cabinet authorized ₹21.52 crore for SIDBI Cluster Development Fund initiatives aimed at promoting balanced economic expansion via MSMEs.
