Bandhan Bank Signs MoU with Assam Government

Bandhan Bank has sealed a landmark deal with the Government of Assam, solidifying its position as a pivotal player in financial services. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) grants Bandhan Bank the exclusive mandate to collect tax and non-tax receipts through the Government Receipt Accounting System Portal (GRAS), enhancing financial accessibility for citizens across Assam.

The strategic collaboration extends Bandhan Bank’s reach, already spanning all 35 districts of Assam with nearly 500 banking outlets. Citizens can now seamlessly make payments for house tax, vehicle registration tax, local body tax, water bills, examination fees, and trade license renewals through the Assam e-GRAS portal, a move expected to streamline transactions and promote a paperless economy.

Debraj Saha, Head of Government Business at Bandhan Bank, remarked, “Assam is among our top 5 markets. This mandate underlines the trust placed in the bank by state governments and regulators, providing a significant opportunity to serve the people of Assam.”The Assam e-GRAS portal, a secure web application, ensures 24/7 access for citizens to generate e-challans and make online payments, contributing to the impressive total collection of nearly INR 16,000 Crore during the FY 2022-23.
