Assam grills under flood, rescue team deployed in the region

Assam is grilling under flood due to continuous rainfall in the region. Atleast eight rivers are flowing above the danger mark including Brahmaputra river at the highest peak. The bulletin board says, Assam flood has affected the region over 6.44 lakh people in 19 districts. Rescue teams are deployed in all the regions including the NDRF, SDRF, army, air force and local administration. Meanwhile, the death toll affected by flood has increased this year to 45 while one person is missing. Further, the rescued ones are taken to the relief camp.

23 districts of Assam included for double cropping project covering 1,000 hectares of land

Assam Agriculture minister Atul Bora has launched double cropping project at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat which will include 23 districts, covering 1,000 hectares of land across the state. Bora stressed the primary goal of the project is to boost farmers' income. Double cropping is to cultivate fallow lands after the kharif rice harvesting season which will enhance its productivity, cropping intensity and soil fertility also this will reduce labour migration.
