IIT Bombay receives Rs 153 crore donation from anonymous alumnus

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has received a donation of US$ 18.6 million from alumni to establish a green energy and sustainability research hub, the premier institute said on Thursday.IIT B, however, did not reveal the identity of the former student, saying he wanted to remain anonymous.The contribution will redefine the Institute's role in tackling the global climate crisis. ‘First IIT campus beyond Indian borders finds its home in Tanzania’, says MEA

The Ministry of External Affairs has recently revealed about the set up of a campus of IIT Madras in Tanzania's Zanzibar. This initiative will not only strengthen the relationship between the two countries but it will also help to promote Indian education system at international level. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Zanzibar's President Hussein Ali Mwinyi. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommends that "high performing Indian universities will be encouraged to set up campuses in other countries", said MEA.
