LPG Gas Cylinder is used in every house from cities to villages in the country. Everyone should use LPG gas cylinders carefully, otherwise, there can be an incident like a cylinder blast or fire. By adopting some tips, you can avoid these accidents. Let’s know.

Why does an LPG cylinder blast?

Usually the cylinder blasts for two reasons. First – due to gas leaking, the fire from the stove reaches the cylinder and gets blasted. Second- Due to the expiry date of the cylinder, there is a risk of blast when used.

Precautions while taking delivery of LPG cylinder

If you want to avoid LPG cylinder blasts etc. then you must keep some things in mind while taking delivery of the cylinder.

The expiry date of the LPG cylinder should also be checked.

Delivery of LPG cylinders should be taken from the official gas agency only.

Always check the seal while taking delivery of the LPG cylinder.

While using an LPG cylinder, keep in mind whether your regulator is fitting on the cylinder or not.

How to check the expiry date?

The expiry date is written on every LPG cylinder in its upper part. These are A-23, B-23, C-23 and D-23. Stands for January to March, B for April to June, C for July to September and D for October to December, while 23 stands for the year of expiry.

Insurance on LPG cylinder blast

Insurance on cylinder blasts is given by gas cylinder distributor companies such as Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL). According to the statement given by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in the Rajya Sabha in 2019, a death cover of Rs 6 lakh per person is given in case of a cylinder blast. At the same time, a medical cover of Rs 30 lakh is given, which is a maximum of up to Rs 2 lakh per person. A cover of up to Rs 2 lakh is given on damage to the property.
