Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio confirmed today that 45 Naga youths held in Punjab for over four months have been granted bail. The state government is now facilitating their safe return home. Rio extended his gratitude to Advocate General K.N. Balgopal and his legal team for their determined efforts in securing the release.

The youths were arrested on May 15, 2024, under the Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code, accused of sending fraudulent messages and extracting money through call centers linked to individuals from Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Following multiple failed bail attempts, the case reached the Hon’ble High Court, where legal representatives argued that the accused were not involved in the alleged crimes. The court granted bail after considering the lack of evidence, marking a significant relief for the detainees.
