Christopher Tilak slams NDPP-BJP government in Nagaland

In a scathing assessment of the ruling NDPP-BJP government, Christopher Tilak, AICC Secretary Incharge for Manipur, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura, addressed the Extended Executive Meeting of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on October 7, 2024. Tilak expressed deep concerns over the pervasive disillusionment among the people of Nagaland and the Northeast due to the BJP’s unfulfilled promises. He noted the growing frustration among the youth regarding employment opportunities and accused the NDPP-BJP coalition of neglecting vital issues, such as the Naga Political Solution and livelihood improvements.

Describing the BJP’s “double-engine sarkar” as ineffective and a “non-starter” in Nagaland, Tilak criticized the party’s preoccupation with electoral success and majoritarian politics. In contrast, he underscored Congress’s commitment to advocating for marginalized and underrepresented communities. Highlighting the significance of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Tilak portrayed these initiatives as symbols of Congress’s dedication to grassroots politics and inclusive outreach.

In a key announcement, Tilak revealed that the Congress party would soon embark on a state-wide tour of Nagaland, starting with Eastern Nagaland. This tour aims to identify and empower leaders from various sections of society, with a particular emphasis on promoting women’s leadership.
