This year’s World Asthma Day theme ‘Asthma Care for All’ aims to promote effective disease management through better access to quality medication and healthcare resources. India has a significant gap between the number of cases and deaths caused by asthma, making up 42% of the global total. This is due to insufficient disease awareness and misunderstandings about inhaler therapy.

Asthma is a non communicable disease that affects all ages and is the most common chronic disease among children. It causes the airways to narrow, swell, and produce excessive mucus, making it difficult to breathe. Inhalation therapy is essential for asthma management. Cipla’s #BerokZindagi campaign is an important platform to engage the masses and combat misinformation through social conversations and well-informed dialogue.

This can lead to a positive change in asthma attitudes and behaviour. Cipla’s Breathe free program is an important tool to help patients manage their lung health better. Dr.Abhishek Bali, Consultant Pulmonologist, Siliguri said, “All of which is crucial for the effective management of the disease and needs to be addressed to improve patient outcomes.” Adding on, Dr. Ajit Chhetri, Child Specialist & Neonatologist, Siliguri said, “Therefore, to address these challenges a significant change in how India views asthma as well as one of its recommended treatments is necessary.”
