Kolkata, February 26: Supersonic has signed a long-term LNG supply agreement with Ultra Gas & Energy Limited (UGEL) to support the expansion of its LNG-powered heavy-duty truck fleet from Blue Energy Motors. The agreement, signed in Kolkata, establishes a structured LNG supply framework through UGEL’s retail network to ensure reliable fuel access across key freight corridors.
The partnership is aimed at strengthening fuel infrastructure as Supersonic scales its alternative fuel operations. Director S K Mittal (Agarwal) said the company has seen strong performance and efficiency from Blue Energy Motors’ LNG trucks on long-haul routes and that assured fuel supply and after-sales support are critical for sustaining operations. UGEL MD & CEO Maqsood Shaikh said dependable LNG access will support daily fleet operations and accelerate the transition to cleaner freight solutions. Anand Mimani, CEO – EV & New Energy Business at Blue Energy Motors, said ecosystem development is essential for scaling alternative fuel trucks.
Blue Energy Motors’ LNG and electric fleet has collectively covered over 90 million kilometres, reducing more than 25,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions, while retaining the top position in the alternative fuel heavy-duty vehicle segment. From a Kolkata, the agreement signals rising industry confidence in LNG-based logistics in eastern India. With Kolkata emerging as a key freight hub linking eastern and northeastern corridors, structured LNG supply is expected to strengthen cleaner mobility adoption in the region.
