On Friday, the Congress said it was time for the party to take on the task of bringing the opposition together in a “systematic approach” and welcomed the opposition leaders’ statements denouncing Rahul Gandhi’s expulsion from the Lok Sabha.
The grand old party also claimed that it had been working with other opposition parties in Parliament, and that the collaboration now needed to extend outside of the two Houses.
As Rahul Gandhi was barred from the Lok Sabha due to his conviction in a defamation case by a Gujarat court on Friday, leaders of nearly all opposition parties stood by him and accused the BJP of engaging in “vindictive politics.”
