Asserting that youth skill development is critical, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar stated today that tourism alone could propel Meghalaya’s economy. Dhankar stated that if there is a celestial spirit, it is in Meghalay, and nature has generously blessed the state. He also challenged the state to fully capitalize on this gift by assembling a pool of highly competent human resources. Dhankhar was speaking after laying the groundwork for the Meghalaya Skills and Innovation Hub in New Shillong. He also started the ‘CM Business Catalyst: Student B-Plan Challenge’. The Meghalaya government will also promote entrepreneurship.
The Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub would be erected on a 6.54-acre land for Rs 77.5 crore. It will be designed as a space for incubation, training, collaboration, and industry relationships. Skilled kids are in high demand these days. Dhankar stated that the talent and innovation cluster will go a long way toward encouraging entrepreneurship in the state. He believes that the construction of the innovation cluster will benefit the state’s human resources. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma stated that Meghalaya’s young population is its strength.
He stated that his administration was strongly promoting entrepreneurship, and that a talent and innovation hub was being established to meet the personnel deficit. He went on to say that around 85 percent of our population is under the age of 45. The youth are our greatest strength and asset, and we have implemented programs to channel this strength.
