The new COVID type provides less risk and is unlikely to increase hospitalisations, but people need to be cautious, according to a senior official in the Union Health Ministry.
“New strains keep arriving after mutation,” the senior official said on Monday. “This is a fresh variety which has come..this would not lead to increase in hospitalisations hence there is low danger associated with it.”
He claimed that the strain had been studied and had been isolated in a lab.
