In a major push for sustainable farming, the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI), Durgapur, today unveiled its cutting-edge E-Tractor and E-Tiller in Ludhiana, marking a pivotal moment in India’s journey towards green and energy-efficient agriculture. Graced by Prof. Adarsh Pal Vij, Chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board, and other top agri-scientists, the event showcased CSIR PRIMA ET11 and the E-Tiller, designed for small and marginal farmers with zero emissions, low maintenance, and user-friendly ergonomics.
The machines, first flagged off by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh on National Science Day, are touring key cities, with Ludhiana being a prominent stop. The demonstration included live field trials, interactions with farmers, and stakeholder sessions involving MSMEs and agri-tech firms. From Durgapur’s industrial belt, CSIR-CMERI’s innovation is seen as a game-changer for the Durgapur market, where rising interest in clean-tech machinery is expected to boost local manufacturing and commercial partnerships, aligning with India’s renewable goals.
CSIR-CMERI Director Dr. Naresh Chandra Murmu stressed the mission to transform traditional farming, with dignitaries urging responsible adoption and disposal of EV components to ensure long-term environmental health.
