Reckitt’s flagship campaign, Dettol Banega Swasth India (BSI), commemorated Global Handwashing Day 2024 by successfully educating 30 million children across India about the importance of hand hygiene. Themed “Clean Hands for All: Advancing Health Equity through Hygiene,” the initiative emphasizes BSI’s commitment to ensuring that children from all backgrounds access vital hygiene knowledge.
The campaign’s cornerstone, the Dettol School Hygiene Education programme, engaged schools across 29 states and 7 union territories, involving over 100 partners. Participating institutions, including Sarvodaya Vidyalayas and Kendriya Vidyalayas, promoted effective handwashing techniques to instill lifelong hygiene habits. This year, BSI also introduced an innovative AI-powered chatbot, “Hygieia For Good Hygiene,” providing hygiene information in seven languages via WhatsApp, enhancing accessibility and engagement.
In Kolkata, the campaign has resonated strongly with the community. Local market stakeholders are enthusiastic about the initiative, recognizing the critical need for hygiene education in schools. This growing awareness has sparked a collaborative effort among parents, educators, and businesses, leading to increased participation in hygiene programs. The positive response reflects Kolkata’s commitment to fostering a health-conscious environment for future generations.
