The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), is gearing up for the 7th edition of the Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) scheduled for October 24, 2024. This year’s exercise will focus on simulating an earthquake scenario, aiming to assess the state’s preparedness for effective disaster response. To kick off the preparations, an Orientation and Coordination Meeting will be conducted on October 9, 2024, via video conference. This crucial meeting will involve the Advisor of NSDMA along with all District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) and departmental heads, ensuring thorough preparation ahead of the exercise. Leading up to the main event, several key activities are planned: October 9, 2024: An Orientation and Coordination Conference with NDMA will be held at 11:00 AM, attended by all DDMA Chairpersons, Assistant Heads of Departments (AHoDs), Heads of Departments (HoDs), and Nodal Officers. October 22, 2024: A Table Top Exercise (TTEx) will commence at 10:00 AM at various locations, including the Administrative Training Institute (ATI) in Kohima and respective DDMAs. This exercise will include participation from DDMA Chairpersons and key officials from line departments, as well as stakeholders like the NDRF, SDRF, and paramilitary forces.
October 24, 2024: A Mock Exercise will take place at 9:00 AM, with all participants engaging physically according to their designated roles and responsibilities. October 30, 2024: DDMAs are required to submit a comprehensive report on the exercise, both online and in a spiral-bound format.
