Durgapur students achieve international ranks in Science Olympiad

In the Science Olympiad exam, 3 students from Durgapur have achieved international ranks. Shatavisha Dasgupta, a student of 4th grade (DAV Model School) in the National Science Olympiad and Indrashis Dutta, a student of seventh grade (Hem Sheela Model School) in the International Mathematics Olympiad secured international rank 1. Shatavisha Dasgupta received Rs 50000, an international gold medal and a certificate, whereas Indrashis Dutta received a gold medal and a certificate. In the International Mathematics Olympiad, Saikat Debnath, a student of class X (Hem Sheela Model School) secured international rank 3 and received an international bronze medal with a certificate.

Noteworthy, more than 55000 students from Durgapur participated in the SOF Olympiad exam, including students from DAV Model School, Hem Sheela Model School, Durgapur Public School, Carmel Convent High School and St. Michaels School.

The SOF (Science Olympiad Foundation) organized an awards ceremony to honour and distribute awards to the Olympiad exam winners, teachers, and principals for the academic year 2022–2023. The top three SOF worldwide rank winners from classes First to Twelve that participated in seven Olympiad exams were recognised during the ceremony. During the event, 66 international rank-1 winners received Rs. 50,000 in addition to an international gold medal and a merit certificate, while the 66 international rank-2 winners received Rs. 25,000 as well as an international silver medal and a merit certificate. Rs. 10,000, a bronze medal, and a merit certificate were handed over to 66 international rank-3 holders.
