Flipkart and Bajaj Auto join forces for sustainable deliveries, introduce ‘green machines’

Flipkart, one of India’s leading e-commerce platforms, has partnered with Bajaj Auto Ltd., the world’s most valuable two-wheeler and three-wheeler company. The collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Flipkart’s last-mile delivery operations, heralding a significant shift towards sustainability in India’s e-commerce landscape.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on May 10th, Bajaj Auto will supply Flipkart with 1000 technologically advanced electric three-wheeler cargo vehicles over the course of two years. These vehicles, part of Bajaj’s E-TEC Cargo range, are poised to revolutionize Flipkart’s last-mile delivery efficiency and sustainability.

Samardeep Subandh, President of Intracity Business Unit at Bajaj Auto Ltd., highlighted the pivotal role of sustainable logistics in India’s e-commerce growth, emphasizing the partnership’s commitment to a 100% sustainable last-mile fleet for Flipkart.On Flipkart’s end, Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re-Commerce, expressed the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility. This collaboration aligns with Flipkart’s pledge to transition its entire last-mile delivery fleet to EVs as part of Climate Group’s global electric mobility initiative – EV100.
