The Flipkart Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Flipkart Group, has teamed up with SankalpTaru Foundation, India’s leading IT-enabled environmental NGO, to launch a significant mangrove restoration initiative in the Sundarbans, West Bengal.This ambitious project aims to plant 35,000 mangrove saplings over 6 acres within a span of 36 months.The ‘Community-Based Mangrove Plantation and Restoration’ project focuses on enhancing coastal protection, improving water quality, and increasing biodiversity.
The project will be executed in North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas districts along the Raimangal and Chota Kolagachia rivers. The initiative is designed to positively impact over 5,000 marginalized individuals, including more than 1,000 families, by providing climate-resilient agricultural and aquatic livelihoods.
