FOGSI Drives Quality Care Revolution in Manipur’s Maternity Hospitals

The Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI) hosted an event on April 29 to showcase its efforts towards implementing a State Saturation approach aimed at enhancing the capacities of private maternity care facilities in Manipur. FOGSI has enrolled over 66% of maternity facilities in Manipur under the Manyata initiative to address high maternal mortality rates in the state.

Nine maternity facilities received Manyata certification, marking a significant improvement in maternal health outcomes after successfully clearing their assessments during an event. Over 170 healthcare staff members have been upskilled through this initiative, contributing to safer deliveries for more than 2500 women across the state.

The event featured state government representatives, FOGSI leaders, and practicing obstetricians and gynecologists from ManipurManyata is a quality improvement initiative by FOGSI, ensuring consistent, safe, and respectful care for mothers during and after childbirth. It promotes evidence-based clinical standards based on WHO standards for maternal health care in antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care. Manyata’s National Convenor and Past President at FOGSI, Dr. Hema Divakar said, “The progress seen through Manyata in Manipur is truly inspiring and underscores our commitment to elevating healthcare for all women.”
