Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh held discussions with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to expedite ongoing highway projects in the state. The talks, which took place during the National Highway Projects Review Meeting for the Northeast, focused on addressing challenges and ensuring swift progress.
Singh announced that new infrastructure projects would soon be launched to further boost connectivity across the region. “Engaged in a productive discussion with Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji to address challenges and accelerate the progress of ongoing highway projects in Manipur,” Singh shared via X, highlighting the importance of enhancing the state’s road network.
In related developments, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Jiribam issued an eviction directive for all structures within the Right of Way (ROW) along National Highway 37. The move follows a mandate from the Deputy Commissioner to clear land for the highway’s expansion. Public notices issued earlier this year have urged landowners to hand over their properties to enable smooth project execution. The highway projects are seen as crucial to improving connectivity and fostering economic development in Manipur and the broader Northeast region.
