GE Aerospace to invest $14 million to expand Pune operations on 10th anniversary

GE Aerospace has announced a USD 14 million investment to expand its Pune manufacturing facility, marking a decade of successful operations. The investment, following last year’s USD 30 million expansion, will strengthen the plant’s capacity through upgraded manufacturing processes and automation, supporting the production of advanced engine components.

“Our Pune team has built strong capabilities, delivering components for some of our most advanced commercial jet engines with safety and quality as priorities,” said Vishwajit Singh, Managing Director of GE Aerospace Pune. “This investment demonstrates our commitment to the Make in India initiative and advancing India’s role in global aerospace manufacturing.”

Since its inception, the Pune facility has evolved into a high-tech aerospace parts hub, supported by over 300 suppliers locally and part of GE Aerospace’s nationwide network of 2,200 suppliers. Over 5,000 production associates have been trained in precision manufacturing processes, while ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications underline the facility’s focus on sustainability and operational excellence.

In Kolkata, analysts expect the expansion to create ripple effects in eastern India’s industrial ecosystem. Component suppliers, logistics providers, and skill development services could see new business opportunities, as Kolkata continues to emerge as a key hub for supporting aerospace and high-precision manufacturing activities. With the proprietary FLIGHT DECK lean operating model driving efficiency, GE Aerospace Pune is poised to reinforce India’s footprint in global aerospace supply chains.
