Godrej Agrovet Limited (Godrej Agrovet) has introduced a targeted winter strategy to support fish farmers in Bihar addressing seasonal challenges that impact fish health and farmer productivity. Cold weather slows digestive enzyme activity in fish, reducing nutrient absorption and leading to physiological stress.
Dhrubajyoti Bannerjee, CEO of the Aquafeed Business at Godrej Agrovet, said, “By leveraging digital platforms and community-driven initiatives, we’re creating a comprehensive ecosystem that has the potential to transform how fish farmers manage seasonal productivity challenges.” The multi-pronged approach combines digital knowledge dissemination, community-building efforts, and on-ground support mechanisms.
The company’s Matsya Margadarshan campaign provides farmers with expert advice via Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook, while the Aqua Mitra series promotes community learning through live broadcasts and success stories. The Godrej Aqua Insiders initiative emphasizes sustainability, green practices, and women’s empowerment in aquaculture. In Siwan, a key aquaculture market, farmers are optimistic about these initiatives. The availability of expert tips and sustainable practices is expected to enhance productivity and profitability, especially during the winter months.
