Google Chrome is being sold! According to sources, the US Justice Department is going to take legal action against Chrome’s ‘tremendous popularity’. They claim that Chrome is practically monopolizing both the Internet search market and the advertising associated with it. Last month, the US Justice Department submitted documents to the court against Google. It is said that several steps are being considered against Google. The US Justice Department has a plan to prevent Google from using certain of its products. This time, the documents will be presented before the judge on Wednesday, Bloomberg reported. Along with this, an application will be made to the court to order Google to sell Chrome.
Statistics show that Chrome has a 90 percent share in the global search engine market. Chrome controls 61 percent of the US market. Based on this survey received up to October, the US Department of Justice has accused Chrome of monopoly. However, in August, US Court Judge Amit Mehta had said that Google Chrome has a ‘monopoly’ in the field of online search. For this reason, the court was also considering punishment against Google and its controlling company Alphabet.
Although Google has strongly opposed the whole matter from the beginning. The company has said that they do not maintain monopoly at all. Now if the court orders the sale of Chrome, then there will be a big change in Google’s business. The price of mobile phones will also increase. In such a situation, Google is also thinking of filing a counter-appeal in the court.
