India likely to restrict sugar exports

On Wednesday, the government has announced of restriction of sugar exports in India due to poor monsoon rain which is vital for India’s economy.

According to the sources, nearly 70 per cent of the rain the country needs to water crops and replenish reservoirs and aquifers. Also summer rainfall deficit risks making staples such as sugar, pulses, rice and vegetables more expensive and lift overall food inflation.
