Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has projected that India’s electric vehicle (EV) market will reach ₹20 lakh crore by 2030. He emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable mobility solutions and reducing carbon emissions. Gadkari highlighted various initiatives, including incentives for EV manufacturers and consumers, development of charging infrastructure, and policy support to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.
The minister also underscored the potential of the EV sector to generate employment opportunities and contribute to economic growth. Industry experts view this projection as a positive indicator of the country’s transition towards cleaner transportation alternatives.
