According to AFP, which cited the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Israeli airstrikes in the Tyre region of Lebanon resulted in at least 11 fatalities and 48 injuries. These latest strikes, which come weeks after earlier Israeli military operations in the same region that had already sparked concerns owing to damage done to multiple heritage sites and the injury of sixteen people, add to the already rising tensions, according to Al Jazeera.
The most recent strikes come after a major event earlier in the week in which Mohammed Afif, the head of Hezbollah’s media relations, was killed by an Israeli airstrike in Beirut. The already tense situation was made worse by this high-profile occurrence.
