JK Cement commissions Rs 500-crore Buxar plant, bets big on Bihar’s infrastructure growth

JK Cement Ltd. on Friday commissioned its Grey Cement Grinding Unit in Buxar, strengthening its footprint in eastern India with a ₹500-crore investment. The Bhavya Lokarpan ceremony was inaugurated by Samrat Choudhary, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, under the guidance of Nitish Kumar, and in the presence of Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Industries & Road Construction Minister, and Dr. Nidhipati Singhania, Vice Chairman, JK Cement.

Spread across 100 acres on the Patna–Buxar highway, the plant has a production capacity of 3 MTPA. Construction began in March 2025 and marks a strategic shift toward localized manufacturing in Bihar, enabling faster deliveries and improved service responsiveness.

Calling the project a milestone for Bihar’s development, Choudhary said industrial investments like this generate employment and accelerate infrastructure growth. Managing Director Dr. Raghavpat Singhania said the Buxar facility reinforces JK Cement’s long-term commitment to supporting the state’s infrastructure ambitions. Joint Managing Director & CEO Mr. Madhavkrishna Singhania described Bihar as a high-potential market, adding that the plant will help meet rising demand across housing, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

The Buxar unit replaces earlier supplies routed from Prayagraj, enhancing supply chain efficiency. Founded in 1975 in Nimbahera, Rajasthan, JK Cement has a grey cement capacity of 31.26 MTPA and white cement and wall putty capacity of 3.05 MTPA, with operations across 15 states and exports to 36 countries.
