K-Pop contest electrifies Kohima; winners gear up for national semi-finals

The All India K-Pop Contest 2024’s regional round in Kohima drew enthusiastic crowds to Hotel Japfu, spotlighting the region’s growing K-Pop fanbase. Out of 225 registrations, 20 participants competed in Dance and Vocal categories, showcasing exceptional talent. Kechangulie Theunuo dazzled in the Dance category with Lisa’s ‘Lalisa,’ while Nuu Anu captivated the audience with Wendy’s ‘When This Rain Stops,’ securing top honors in the Vocal category. Both winners will advance to the semi-finals in New Delhi on October 19, 2024.

Kohima, the second city to host a regional round, reflected the market’s strong engagement with international music trends. The event attracted significant local interest, with attendees from various parts of Nagaland contributing to a lively and supportive atmosphere. The regional round also featured notable performances from The Ace and Esther Toppo, among others.

Following Kohima, the contest will continue across major cities including Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad, culminating in a grand finale at New Delhi’s Yashobhoomi on November 23, 2024. The winners will receive an exclusive opportunity to visit Korea, highlighting the contest’s international appeal.
