Large Arsenal of Weapons and Ammunition Seized by Security Forces in Manipur

Security forces in Manipur have made significant strides in controlling the flow of illegal arms and ammunition with recent successful operations in the hill and valley districts. Extensive search operations and area domination exercises led to the recovery of a substantial arsenal, highlighting ongoing security challenges in the region.

In the Tekcham Maning Ching area of Thoubal District, authorities seized a diverse array of weapons and explosives, including one SGM carbine, one M20 pistol, two 9mm pistols, a bore belt action rifle, nine HE-36 hand grenades, an 81mm mortar shell, two Green 80MK (WP) devices, a tear gas grenade, seven tear smoke shells, a stun shell, 35 live ammunition rounds, three .303 blank cartridges, three 16mm cartridge signals, and a Baofeng radio set with a charger. A notable find was a ten thousand Burmese note among the items.

In Nungaipokpi Village, Imphal East District, the forces uncovered additional weapons and ammunition, including two .32 pistols with magazines, a 12-bore single barrel gun, three HE-36 hand grenades, six wood-piercing shells, 15 blank cartridges, three detonators, a 2-inch para illuminating bomb, five live ammunition rounds, three arming rings, three smoke grenades, four WP Green No. 80 MK1, and three anti-riot shells.

In their ongoing efforts to ensure safety and order, security forces managed the movement of 120 vehicles along NH-37 and 76 vehicles along NH-2, transporting essential supplies. To further bolster security, 105 checkpoints were established across various districts, leading to the detention of 168 individuals for violations.
