Security forces in Manipur recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during intensive search operations across vulnerable areas in the hill and valley districts. The operations, part of area domination exercises, aim to curb violence and reinforce security in the conflict-sensitive regions.
The seized items included two country-made 9mm pistols with a magazine, a .22 rifle with a magazine, and a locally crafted launcher known as “Pompi.” Authorities also confiscated a .36 high-explosive (HE) grenade, six live rounds, and 27 empty shell casings, along with a Lathode empty case.
Additional items found during the operation included two smoke grenades, five tear gas shells, a “BAOFENG” communication handset, a pistol holster, two bulletproof jackets, a BP plate, and a pair of jungle boots. The cache was recovered from the Utangpokpi Hill area in Kakching district, underscoring security forces’ vigilant efforts to restore peace in Manipur.
