Manipur attack: Rockets fired into civilians, 6 injured

Kuki militants launched long-range rockets into civilian areas in two locations of Bishnupur district, resulting in the death of an elderly man and injuries to six others, according to Manipur Police. In a statement released late on September 6, police reported that 78-year-old RK Rabei of Moirang Phiwangbam Leikai was killed, while six civilians sustained injuries in Moirang Khoiru Leikai.

Police teams, supported by additional security forces, rushed to the affected areas and conducted combing operations. During the operation, the police team faced gunfire from militants but successfully repelled the attack. A military chopper was deployed for aerial patrol.

Senior officers, including the IGP and DIGP, are on-site, overseeing the security response. Authorities have ensured the safe movement of 115 and 153 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 and NH-2, with strict security measures in place at vulnerable locations.
