Manipur Police capture three KYKL cadres

Manipur Police apprehended three active cadres of the banned outfit KYKL from Ghari Awang Leikai in Imphal West District on September 19. The individuals, identified as Maibam Bronson Singh (24), Yumnam Lanchenba (21), and Soubam Nongpoknganba Meitei (52), were involved in extortion activities in the Sekmai and Thangmeiband areas.

During the arrest, police recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine, one live round of ammunition, five mobile phones, a wallet, and a four-wheeler vehicle from their possession. Meanwhile, security forces conducted search operations across vulnerable hill and valley districts. The joint efforts of the Army and Manipur Police led to the recovery of seven IEDs weighing 28.5 kg, 50 meters of cordtex, and a pull-and-release mechanism from Bongjang, Imphal East District.

Additionally, movement along the vital NH-37 and NH-2 routes was secured, ensuring the safe passage of 213 and 222 vehicles carrying essential supplies. Strict security measures, including 107 checkpoints across the state, were put in place to maintain order, with no reported detentions for violations.
