Manipur Police have arrested two people for spreading fake attack rumours

Two people were detained by Manipur police for allegedly using social media to distribute false information about an alleged assault case. On social media, a video allegedly depicting the attack and robbery of 500 women in Phubala caused a great deal of worry. Two people from Kwakta, Ward No. 8, were identified by authorities as being engaged in the video’s fabrication: Iphamayum Ramijuddin, 30, and Heibokmayum Thoiba, 29. Authorities claim that Thoiba recorded and posted the video to social media, and Ramijuddin admitted to fabricating the tale. After then, both males were taken into custody, and legal action has been taken.

On November 4, security personnel carried out massive search and area domination operations throughout Manipur’s susceptible hill and valley regions in addition to combating the widespread misinformation. A sizable arsenal of weapons and explosives was retrieved from the Samukom neighborhood in Tengnoupal District as a result of the operations. Nine improvised explosive devices, eight HE Pompi grenades, two explosive material cakes, eight No. 36 hand grenades, two pistols, three Pompis, eight 7.62mm live bullets, two pistol rounds, and two walkie-talkies are among the items confiscated. The origin and intended use of these weapons are currently being examined by security officials, who point out that these seizures highlight the continued dangers in the area. Security guards kept an eye on vehicle movements and secured the passage of 153 vehicles along the NH-37 and NH-2 highways in order to further strengthen safety and preserve vital supply lines. Essential supplies were accompanied by security convoys along delicate routes, guaranteeing that the commodities arrived in unstable locations.
