Meghalaya BSF seizes contraband worth over ₹16 lakh

The Border Security Force (BSF) of Meghalaya successfully thwarted several smuggling operations along the India-Bangladesh border, seizing contraband worth over ₹16 lakh. The operations, conducted on September 17, led to the confiscation of cattle and various illegal goods.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, personnel from the 193 Battalion of BSF intercepted a significant shipment of food items and contraband in the East Khasi Hills district. The seized items have been handed over to customs authorities for further legal action.

Meanwhile, the 4th BSF Battalion rescued 12 buffaloes near the Border Outpost at Hawaitila, preventing their illegal transportation into Bangladesh. This action disrupted a major cattle smuggling racket. In another operation, the 200 BSF Battalion intercepted a large quantity of clothing, intended for smuggling into Bangladesh.
