Mobile internet services ban in Manipur extended till November 8

The Manipur govt. again took a decision to extend timeline of restrictions on the use of mobile internet services in the state until November 8, as announced by officials on Sunday.

The decision comes in the backdrop of a recent incident where a mob attacked a camp of the 1st Manipur Rifles with the mindset to loot its armory, resulting into security forces firing warning shots into the atmosphere.

The extension of the timeline of internet ban is based on concerns that individuals with malicious intention may exploit social media platforms to share images, hate speech, and incendiary video messages and hence these activities would probably lead to public unrest and bring disruption to law and order in the state.
