Rs 1.5 crore were allegedly raised for terrorist activites

In connection with a case involving Maulvi Sarjan Barkati, the figurehead of “anti-national” protests in 2016, collecting money and using it for personal gain, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted raids at eight locations on Saturday, according to authorities.
A complaint against Barkati was filed earlier this year by the SIA, a division of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), to look into his “anti-national” comments and the collection of donations.
The officials claim that more than Rs 1.5 crore were allegedly raised through crowdfunding and from accused terrorist sources and used for personal gain, profiteering, and the advancement of secessionist-terrorist movements.
