Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat lauded the unwavering commitment of the organisation’s volunteers stationed in conflict-torn Manipur, despite the state’s volatile and unsafe environment. Bhagwat made these remarks during an event commemorating the centenary of Shankar Dinkar Kane, popularly known as Bhaiyyaji, who significantly contributed to children’s education in Manipur until 1971.
Addressing the situation in Manipur, Bhagwat acknowledged the heightened insecurity faced by locals and volunteers alike. “The situation is challenging, and safety cannot be guaranteed, yet RSS volunteers remain steadfast, serving both communities in the conflict and working towards restoring peace,” he said.
Bhagwat said that the volunteers are not fleeing but are actively engaged in easing tensions and fostering unity between opposing factions. He credited the trust gained by the RSS in the region to years of dedicated service by individuals like Bhaiyyaji Kane.
Reflecting on the broader challenges in the ‘Purvanchal’ region, Bhagwat noted that extremist groups once pushed for secession, but progress has been made. He assured that similar forces seeking to destabilize Manipur today will not succeed. “It may take two more generations to fully realize the vision of a united and progressive India,” he said.
