In a vibrant initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, HCG Cancer Centre Kolkata partnered with Decathlon to host the Festival Run 2024, aiming to elevate awareness and stress the significance of early detection. The event, starting and concluding at Decathlon, Salt Lake, Sector V, was inaugurated by Debashis Sen, former IAS officer and CMD of Hidco, alongside Dr. Amarjeet Singh, COO of HCG Cancer Centre Kolkata. Over 1,000 participants, including healthcare professionals and community members, engaged in the 5 km run, showcasing their commitment to the cause.
Following the run, an energetic flash mob captivated onlookers with a performance inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous,” blending entertainment with awareness as dancers held placards promoting breast cancer screening under the rallying cry “Beat It.”
Sunil Malani, Event Coordinator at Decathlon India, emphasized the importance of community engagement in promoting an active lifestyle. Prateek Jain, Business Head at HCG, highlighted the collaboration’s goal of empowering communities through knowledge about timely screenings. Meanwhile, in Kolkata, health and wellness events like this run are gaining traction, reflecting a growing public interest in preventive healthcare and community-driven initiatives.
