Senior Leader Dilip Ghosh Walked On The Streets Of Durgapur With A ‘Damru’

His action coincides with the election of Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya as the new state BJP president, as no other contender has submitted a candidacy until Wednesday. Regarding the ‘damru’ (hand drum), the former MP for the Lok Sabha responded, “It’s Shravan month… Lord Shiva beats the damru to awaken everybody.” In light of the current circumstances, we are also working to awaken people.

But he didn’t explain what he meant by “current situation” either. “The party appoints those it deems suitable,” he stated in response to Bhattacharya’s election as the new state party president. He is a well-educated individual with strong communication and debate skills who has previously held significant positions within the party. Former BJP state chairman Ghosh is currently mostly missing from important party events, such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah rallies. There were rumours that Ghosh would defect before the 2026 assembly elections after he and his wife Rinku Majumdar visited Digha’s Jagannath temple, which was constructed by the TMC government, on April 30 and met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
