Flipkart’s Shopsy, India’s fastest-growing e-commerce platform, has concluded its Super Shopsy Mela shopping festival for winter, attracting a significant number of customers in tier 2 and beyond cities, with local sellers collaborating to serve millions of customers. The event propelled economic growth for lakhs of regional sellers.
The January sale event on Shopsy App saw a 41% growth in customers, with 35% being first-time shoppers. The highest orders were made in UP, Maharashtra, and Bihar, with over 60% of customers from Tier 3+ cities. This event sparked a shopping spree for winter.
The demand for Tier 2+ cities, such as Cuttack, Guwahati, Gorakhpur, Medinipur, and Muzaffarpur, was the highest. Ethnic Fashion, Home Essentials, Winter Collection and Kids Fashion was among several other categories that topped the demand chart. Kapil Thirani, Head of Shopsy, Flipkart, said, “We take pride in the positive response from our customers and sellers, and value the importance of understanding regional tastes, events and preferences.’’
