SMFG India Credit deepens rural footprint; Pashu Vikas Day impacts 1.55 lakh lives across 16 states

SMFG India Credit has strengthened its rural engagement strategy with the successful completion of the 8th edition of Pashu Vikas Day (PVD), its flagship livestock welfare initiative, on February 14, 2026. Anchored on the theme ‘Sarvottam Seva: Pashu, Parivar aur Pragati’, the programme underscores the NBFC’s focus on integrated rural development linking livestock health, family wellbeing and economic productivity. Launched in 2014, PVD has scaled into one of India’s largest single-day cattle welfare interventions. The 2026 edition was conducted across 16 states through 510 SMFG Gramshakti branches, impacting over 1.55 lakh lives. Approximately 1.4 lakh cattle were treated, while healthcare support reached more than 14,000 individuals, benefiting over 30,000 households.

In West Bengal, camps at 32 locations delivered free veterinary check-ups, medicines, vaccinations and advisory support to enhance milch animal yield, covering over 12,000 cattle and around 1,600 households. Managing Director & CEO Ravi Narayanan said “Sarvottam Seva” represents service at its highest standard, where empathy translates into measurable rural impact and sustainable outcomes.

PVD’s scale has earned recognition from the Limca Book of Records (2015), Best of India Records (2018), World Book of Records (2019) and World Records Union (2024). In 2025, it achieved a Guinness World Records milestone for the largest simultaneous cattle welfare lesson nationwide.
