SMFG India Credit Earns Guinness World Record for Cattle Welfare Education

SMFG India Credit has set a Guinness World Record for the ‘Largest Cattle Welfare Lesson (Multiple Venues)’ with 517 participants across six venues during its 7th edition of Pashu Vikas Day (PVD). Held across 500 locations in 16 states, the event benefited 1.9 lakh beneficiaries, including 1.5 lakh cattle and 40,000 cattle owners.

Themed ‘MeraPashuMeraParivar,’ PVD reinforced the role of livestock in the livelihoods of rural families. Over 6,000 employees participated, reflecting the company’s commitment to rural welfare. CEO Shantanu Mitra emphasized SMFG India Credit’s Pan-India reach, with 1,000+ branches—90% located in Tier-2+ cities—focused on driving financial inclusion. “This milestone highlights our dedication to community development and financial empowerment,” Mitra said.

COO Swaminathan Subramanian remarked, “This recognition on a global platform underscores our efforts to uplift rural communities with sustainable socio-economic initiatives.” Pashu Vikas Day has also earned accolades from World Records Union, Limca Book of Records, and more for its large-scale cattle care camps.
