Stagnant milk output: India likely to consider import of milk products like butter and ghee

It has been observed that India is again facing a problem of milk crisis, due to which it has decided to import milk products like butter and ghee after a considerable gap. According to the sources of trade and market this warning signs have been seen increasing for quite some time.

The increase in prices of Milk from 12 to 15% in the last 15 months and Consumer Price Inflation for milk has increased from 3.81 % in Feb 2022 to 9.65% in Feb 2023.

Normally, India produces around 550 million ltr of milk a day, which has increased by almost 30% during the flush season.
